Bug Dancin' on YouTube

Calvin doing the "bug dance" (he had to put on his bug hat!), which we learned of when we were in Virginia. This was a "video response" to The Bug Dance, which is worth watching for the explanation as well as the entertainment! Click here to watch it. David France posted it from T.J.'s wedding reception, and Gary (the "Uncle Gary" I talked about) is the one talking and dancing at first. Dave Mitchell rapping is hilarious, too!

Bug Dance Take Two! This is more of a bug, dancing, rather than bug-dancing.

Rick's New Job!!!

Starting tomorrow (Friday the 24th) Rick will be at a new job! It is still at Spirit, but a completely different area. He's been "tech support" for Stress Engineering, now he'll be a "Propulsions Analysis Engineer" in CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics, or Fluids for short) and Thermal Analysis. We are so grateful that the Lord has graced us with this new job! Rick's been wanting to get into Fluids and to be doing actual engineering, and has wanted this position for over a month. He's been a computer guy at Spirit till now. I have to admit, we were a little bummed that it doesn't come with a little pay raise (those fast-approaching adoption costs!), BUT....we got over that quickly. We're just excited he's going to be doing what he wants to do! He's got 15 or so guys in the Fluids group he'll be working with, plus about 8 more in Acoustics which are also part of his group.

He's already learned that the new group he'll be with has "themes" for the year for eating out. One year it was "the best burger in Wichita" and this year it's "boundaries" (pushing your limits!). One guy is reported to having eaten raw sea urchin. We'll have to wait in suspense to see if there will be any victories to report on for Rick. :) Since there's no raise, I doubt he'll be joining them too often. :)

It was a little funny how Rick got a call with the job offer BEFORE he ever interviewed....a mistake on their part somehow. They got that straightened out and he still landed the job :) Right after he got off the phone and had "accepted" the job I told him they just wanted him so badly they didn't even see the need to interview! To that, Rick said, "Or I just annoyed enough people..." :) He had talked to a few people in order to find out about it, get his resume in, etc. :)

Another blessing of this job--WINDOWS! Just around the outside walls surrounding all the cubicles, but hey, it's better than absolutely no windows (like tech support)! :)

Our baby's ONE!!! The Latest on Fallyn

Our "sugarplum" turned one on Aug. 2!!! (I'm 3 weeks late posting this!) Hard to believe it's been a year since she was born! My heart just melts thinking of our baby girl entering this world--unless I'm cringing thinking of what it felt like :)

She looooooves tomatoes! This pic was the first time she'd had a whole one. I had been cutting them up in bits for her, then one day she was fussing for a tomato. I thought she just wanted to hold it, and she ate the entire thing!!!

Fallyn styled her hair all on her own using her juicy hands! She'd been eating tomatoes and raspberries. This picture doesn't do her "do" justice. It was so stiff, too!

We got a doll for Fallyn for her birthday, and I let her have it 2 weeks early. I just couldn't resist. She's never played with a doll before; she's maybe just SEEN one once or twice when we babysat. She instantly picked the baby up and snuggled her to her chest. A week or so later she started rocking while holding her baby close, and now she pats and rocks her baby at the same time! I'm amazed at the nurturing instinct that is in her already! My baby's taking care of a baby!

A picture from her party. Aren't the jewels (Bobbie found those!) cute on the little birthday princess? She hardly touched her cake, just barely picked at the icing with her thumb and forefinger! She's too dainty I guess!

Our Dainty Little Thing:

Fallyn just had her one-year check-up at Dr. Barclay's. She's in the 15th percentile for weight--a little over 18 pounds--and about the same for height. She used to be so tubby! She's gone down STEADILY on the charts, so it didn't concern the dr. He wrote on her chart, "gross-motor delayed" because she has yet to put weight on her legs, although just in the past couple days she's been letting me pull her up to her feet. It only lasts one second, two at most before she just buckles! She's made progress, though, so he's not too worried. She was not a happy camper at the dr.'s office, though, laying on the table to be measured, then again when the dr. saw her, then getting X-rays of her hips (dr. was 99% sure she was fine, but just wanted to check), then 3 shots :(

She has said one word (the day of her bday)--light, which in her language is "Dah!"

I got my first "kiss" from her yesterday!

Favorite foods: TOMATOES (she can eat several whole in one day), berries, peas, virtually any other fresh fruits and veggies, and just yesterday she started eating tofu! Yummm! She is quite the healthy eater, although she does love M&Ms and ice cream.

Her feet are so tiny! She's just now coming to the end of her 3-6 month size shoes. She's starting to wear some that say 6-12 months, although they are pretty big on her at almost 13 months old! Maybe she's just going to be petite. I'm glad for her little feet! Maybe she got more of Rick's genes and won't have the typical Fruechting feet :) We can only hope!

Of course, her favorite thing is still Calvin (who turned 2 1/2 on Aug 2)! It's so fun to see the new things they can do together now that she's getting older, like more chasing, clapping hands and patting heads in the car (she'll do what he's doing and he loves that!), splashing in the tub together, and looking at the same book.

Rewinding--Our Trip to VA & Theirs to Here

It's pretty rare these days that we get a picture of the 2 of us! We missed our children TERRIBLY, but we had a great time!!!

June 29 we flew out of KC with Chuck and Sasha to Virginia for our friend T.J.'s wedding. It was incredible, in so many ways! The fellowship was just amazing. The Lord did wonders in our hearts. Several others (Dave Mitchell, Dave Crippen (and his new wife), Joel, Kara, Eric Miller, Eric Wilson) from Wichita went, and it felt like a little reunion out there in Danville, USA. Many of the "old gang" were hanging out again, worshipping, praying, driving, flying, singing, seeing the sights of Danville (Buiscuitville, Bubba's, Chick-Fil-A, sweet tea, to name a few). David France was even there from Bermuda! There is just way too much that could be said.

The dream team: Rick, David France, Gary Wyatt, T.J., Eric Miller, Joel Mehler
Our good friends Chuck & Sasha. We heart the Edwards!!!

T.J. and his lovely wife, Erienne

AND THEN...

...Fifteen days later T.J. & Erienne and Gary & Marie made a road trip to Wichita and were here about 4 days! Tons of fun! Tyler and Marie were back in Nebraska, so it worked out perfectly for the 4 of them to stay here and have their own beds and their own bathrooms. It was Gary and Marie's "vision trip" for a possible move to Wichita. Now that I'm finally posting about all this, they have since decided to move here! It was so fun to have them here--more hanging out with the ol' gang, plus the 2 newbies Gary and Marie!!!
Calvin & "Uncle Gary" Gary became "Uncle Gary" just minutes after meeting Calvin! He's definitely on Calvin's list of Favorite People! We miss him!
